Doris Day – Born In 1924
Doris Day is one of the most famous, popular and acclaimed singers and actresses of the 20th century. She began her career as a big band singer in 1939, at age 15. In 1948 she auditioned for film director Michael Curtiz, which led to her being cast as the female lead in the movie Romance on the High Seas. Another famous role was the one she played in Alfred Hitchcock’s film The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956), in which she introduced to the world a new song which became a huge hit: Que Sera ,Sera (Whatever Will be, Will Be). Day kept her focus on her singing career and in 2011, she released her 29th studio album which debuted at No. 9 on the UK Top 40 charts. As of January 2014, Day is the oldest living singer to score a UK Top 10 album featuring new material.
